The chapter titled "Families of the Descendants" provides details (as known as of July 28, 2019) for the offspring of Maltimore Durden (children and grandchildren). There is a chapter for each generation. Relatives are listed in the order of the nearness of their relationship.
This document reports the details of 16 families that include 43 individuals, of whom 23 are male and 20 are female. Of the 25 individuals with recorded birth and death dates, the average lifespan was 71.04 years. Of these, 10 males averaged 72.8 years, and 15 females averaged 69.87 years. The longest living male was Alfred Aaron (1865–1957), who died aged 92. The longest living female was Ophelia Durden (1892–1982), who died aged 89.
On December 12, 1914, at the age of 19, Elijah Durden was one of two boys lynched by a mob of citizens after confessing to murder, arson and robbery of Charles M Hicks, a postmaster at Hicks Crossing, also known as Sylvester, Louisiana. John Lewis was the other boy lynched.
